About Salem Institute of Rehabilitation

Salem Institute of Rehabilitation, established in 2010 under the National Charitable Trust, is a leading NGO in Salem District dedicated to serving persons with special needs. We specialize in holistic rehabilitation for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, hearing impairment, muscular dystrophy, autism spectrum disorders and other developmental communication disorders. Our multidisciplinary team of experts works tirelessly to empower each individual to achieve independence, inclusion and a fulfilling quality of life.

History of the Institution

The National Charitable Trust was founded in 2010 by Mrs. Vasuki Vijayakrishnan, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology and brings over 25 years of rich expertise in special education and therapy. Under her visionary leadership, Salem Institute of Rehabilitation opened its doors as the Trust’s first project—a special school for children with intellectual disability. Since then, we have grown into a comprehensive rehabilitation center, integrating state-of-the-art therapy services, special education and vocational training for a wide spectrum of special needs.
